1. Choose pattern sizes based on the ACTUAL pattern measurements rather than by the sizes the company gives you on the envelope. Order multisize patterns if possible, or a size group closest to your measurements and then physically measure all important measurements right off the the pattern pieces (remember to include seam allowances!). Pattern company sizes are all different, and you just can't assume that a size 12 in one company is the same in another.

| 2. When fitting a garment, wear the actual undergarments you will wear under your outfit for the fitting. |

3. To make skirts easily resizable, cut the waistband at the side seams and attach to the skirt pieces. Then, if you need to take it in or let it out, just sew straight up the side, waistband and all, and tack down the waistband on the inside of the skirt (in the same manner you would adjust men's trousers at the centre back seam). |
